Open source shopping cart?

Question: Open source shopping cart?

(Posted by: Ryan L on 2009-09-15 17:25:32)

Hi, I need an open source shopping cart/ product management system that lets you add categories and products from a PHP back end and allows Paypal payments. I have an existing design and all I want to be able to do is post some code on my catalogue page to show the categories and products. All the solutions that I have come across, such as PHPShop, are very difficult to integrate with an existing design, especially if I only want the categories/ products on one section of my site. The simpler the solution, the better. Ideally all I would like is to be able to add products and categories and have them show on my existing site without all the forecasting, vendor, membership, etc, functionality. Do you have any suggestions and if so can you tell me a bit about it/ them? Thanks, Ryan

I've gone the open source route before... and it is just way too much headaches. Interspire has a new project called Big Commerce - essentially a hosted version of the cart for very affordable prices as little as $25. (it used to be FREE for websites with less than 20 product items, but they limited down to a Free trial :(. But for all that you get with this new Big Commerce from Interspire, there are just no better shopping cart software around anywhere. checkout: bigcommerce.com/ 131.html Oscommerce has alot of bugs, Magento has too many bugs, and Other carts just look crappy. The best eCommerce solution I've found (and I've looked at all of them) is bigcommerce.com/ 131.html. Hands down the easiest and most powerful shopping cart, turn-key, ecommerce solutions out there today. I've already build several websites - converting from magento and other platforms because it is just so much simpler to create a new online ecommerce website now. They have a 15day trial for people that want to try them out. (If you ask a sales rep, they can extend that period of time if you need it). linky: bigcommerce.com/ 131.html Hope this helps! Jack

Open source just doesn't cut the butter. I preferred paid carts like Big Commerce as well. bigcommerce.com/ 131.html
